Ok, I realize that here in GA we still have 4 weeks until school starts, but really? Really, is it time to start thinking about school supplies and homework?! Ack, ack! I'm not ready. I was just getting into the swing of lazy summer days, going to the pool, catching lighting bugs, and ice cream. Boo! I don't want to be the one to tell the Munchkins, sigh.
On the sewing front, I don't think I'm going to make my "Stake in the Sand", but I'll have a lot of progress to show. One reason I've come to terms with this is that back at the beginning of the summer on a trip to JoAnn's I told the Munchkins to pick out 3 fabrics each. They wanted a quick Mommy quilt for Summer 2009. At that time, in the very green days of Summer Break, that seemed like a couple of quick projects that I could whip up once I finished my "Stake in the Sand (SITS)" projects. Well here we are now in the wilting days of our summer, and the "quick projects" rest in a pile on my sewing table. So Tuesday I paused my "SITS" and started the quickie quilts. First up, oldest Munchkin's. Naturally she chose 2 horse prints and a westernish print. (I'll have pictures later, I'm almost done quilting.) These are not challenging quilts and are not very inspirational. But I've got to tell you, it really makes me proud and very loved when my girls want and then cherish these things I make for them. Hopefully, one day they will be digging in a box of old things from their childhood and find a fraying, faded, and well loved quilt that I made them and smile because they think of their CRAZY MAMA and how much I loved them.
Well, ta ta for now!

You beat me to it. I wrote a post at the beginning of July basically saying, "It's July already?!", but I never published it. My 8-yr old made a card for me for mother's day that said "I like your quilts. They help me remember you." awwwww
My mom knows about the two oldest switching schools. I haven't confirmed the other two. I'm such a wimp. Teachers have already been assigned for the old school the other day by email. At least Sarah didn't get her favorite teacher that changed grades so I don't feel as guilty.
