This is.....so frustrating!

Okay, I don't have a picture, but I've got a great description. This is SO FRUSTRATING! I know I'm going to hell for this....but 2nd and 4th grade spelling words! I'd like to think I'm the "wearing the apron as I greet my babies with fresh baked cookies as they come home from school" type of mom, but I'm not. I'm the kind of mom who gets totally frustrated every Thursday as we sit and study the words assigned for our weekly spelling tests. Sounding words out, repeating and memorizing words over and over, and then not getting them right. I don't remember studying for spelling tests being so hard. I mean, I passed 2nd and 4th grade spelling, why should I be subjected to it again? EEEEEK! So come Thursday, send all your best spelling thoughts my way!

That's hilarious, M! It's too bad you don't have a picture to illustrate your frustrations...hmmm...

I've got my frustration posted...not as creative as your's. :->

Haha! I feel your pain....
Actually, what used to frustrate me was learning the state capitols. You would think I would remember them, but no, with each of the (5) kids, I had to learn them all over again.
Oh! And dinosaurs, I had to learn those all over again with each kid, too.

I spend most of my evenings with 3 of my 4 kids helping with homework--correction, 2 of the 4. Zach I spend much of the night haranguing him into reading for his required 20 minutes and into playing school approved computer games to improve his skills. I wish he had spelling words to learn! He is still on an ILP and I worry so much. I have my fingers crossed for Sarah--she is doing well with her spelling words and is off her ILP for reading because she is doing so well! Caroline, my 7th grader, still misspells everything and what I get frustrated with her about is that she refuses to use a dictionary.

hmmm.... I'm frustrated it seems, too. And, to think, all I wrote my entry about was my McDonald's coffee.

I think this shows that you are a "real" mom! Even when you don't like doing something, you try your best for the sake of the kids. Best wishes for next Thursday!

have you tried alphabet noodles? it's so tactile and some kids who have trouble visually or orally really respond to this. after they make the word with the noodles have them check it by laying the letters on the word in their book (another practice) then have them write the word. (it's really independent too...so you can be sewing with only one eye on them!)
